Goodbye New England, Hello San Diego

After Monday night's debacle in New Orleans against my second favorite NFL team, the Saints, it finally came time to make the jump I have been considering since at least 2007... dropping the New England Patriots as my favorite team. The Pats made it easy on me. After falling behind in the game, Coach Belichick benched much of his first-team offensive stars and put in a rookie QB with no NFL experience outside of preseason play. I have never, ever seen the Patriots quit on a game in the entire time I have been following them (1993 to Present).

I'm done. I will be selling all of my Pats gear on eBay in time for Christmas gifts.

I love the Saints, but not quite enough to promote them to my favorite team. Same goes for the Arizona Cardinals... so, after much thought, I now am hopping on the San Diego Chargers boat... they've been my second favorite AFC team now for several years, and in this the 50th anniversary season for the AFL teams, it makes sense for me to make the switch.

So, to New England, thanks for the great memories... I was going to wait until League-wide free agency began to make my switch, but ya'll made it easy to bail in the middle of the season. And, to my Indy-based readers, no, I never for a split second considered the Colts.
